AAOBA Organizes Bleoo Connect Career & Business Networking Event
The Accra Academy Old Boys’ Association (AAOBA) held its maiden career and business networking event under the theme, “Developing Careers, Building Businesses” on Saturday 28th July 2018 at the Accra Academy. The event dubbed “Bleoo Connect” took place at the K. G. Konuah hall and was organized to offer members of the Association an avenue for business networking and insights into career development with the goal of reducing the unemployment rate in the country and make indigenous Ghanaians businesses competitive in the global economy.

Mr. Alex Mould (Bleoo '78), a Financial and Energy Consultant
|
In his speech as the special guest speaker, Mr. Alex Mould (Bleoo ’78), a financial and energy consultant, talked about career development and shared his past experiences as former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC). Mr. Mould also engaged participants in a question and answer session and shared his insights on various topics such as investment, professional development and work ethics.

Entrepreneurs Break Out Session
|
A breakout session was organised as part of the event to give participants the opportunity to network by industries. The groups that were formed where Health, Education, Entrepreneurs, Banking & Finance, as well as Computing and ICT. A CV clinic was also organised simultaneous during the break out session by Mr. Akpalu to educate participants on the types of CVs, how to write and update CVs to meet international and industry standards but to name a few. A representative of the various groups took turns to address the gathering and summarize their discussions and also share the experiences learnt from their group.
This maiden event which attracted several participants is intendent to be held periodically and will in future editions seek to prepare members who are final year students at the tertiary level with training and preparation for the world of work.

Highlights of Bleoobii Homecoming 2018
The Bleoobii Homecoming 2018 was held at the Samuel Ofori-Adjei Ceremonial Square on 11th August, 2018. Below are the highlights of the event;
Welcome Address

Mr. Emmanuel Bruce-Attah
|
In his welcome address, Mr. Emmanuel Bruce-Attah presented the vision of the Association as follows;
1. To strengthen the Association worldwide by developing a more formal relationship with Alumni in the United States and United Kingdom.
2. To provide solid administrative structures capable of adequately providing for the School, including amending the Constitution to make provision for a Council of all Year Group Presidents and the appointment of an Executive Secretary to run the Secretariat.
3. To maintain a vibrant social and professional network through Bleoo Connect and possibly host the homecoming over a two day period to improve networking among Bleoobii.
Mr. Bruce-Attah also presented citations to Bleoobii entrepreneurs who supported the Association in the organisation of its orientation event for Form One Students. They were Mr. Simon Ontoyin, the Business Development Manager of Exigency Ghana Limited and Mr. Slyvester Nii Odartey, the Managing Director of Taitapic Fruit Juice.
INDUCTION OF BLEOO 2008 YEAR GROUP
The Bleoo 2008 Year group was duly inducted into the Accra Academy Old Boys Association by Nii Quansah Abbey-Ashong (Bleoo '75). Mr. Adansi-Bonnah also poured libation to mark the swearing in of the new year group.
PRESENTATIONS TO PAID UP BLEOO YEAR GROUPS
Mr. Emmanuel Bruce-Attah presented Bleoo Year groups that paid the levy in part or in full with a certificate of recognition and two packs of bottled water.

The various year groups were given the opportunity to mount the stage and address the gathering.
ARM WRESTLING COMPETITION
The competition was won by Bleoobi Patrick Senanu (Bleoo 2002) with Bleoobi Kumedro winning second place. They were each awarded with a pack of StarKist Tuna Flakes presented by Mrs Zella Kokoroko, the Trade Marketing Representative of Pioneer Food Cannery.

Kenkey Eating Competition The competition was contested by 5 alumni and officiated by the Master of Ceremonies. The Winner and other participants each received prizes donated by Pioneer Cannery Limited and presented by its Trade Marketing Representative, Mrs Zella Kokoroko.
GARI SOAKING COMPETITION
The competition was contested by 5 alumni and was officiated by the Master of Ceremonies. The winner and other participants received prizes donated by Pioneer Foods Cannery Ltd which were presented on behalf of AAOBA by Mr. Simon Ontoyin (Bleoo 2006).
Bleoo Legacy Fund Account Opened
The Bleoo Legacy Fundraising Initiative (BLFI) seeks to raise One million Ghana Cedis from life-time contributions of Bleoobii to be invested in Government of Ghana bonds for Accra Academy as a means of providing a sustainable income for the School in perpetuity.
The Bleoo Legacy Fund was duly opened on 2nd August 2018 at the North Industrial Branch of the Standard Chartered Bank. This operational account would hold all monies pledged to the BLFI for the purchase of Government of Ghana bonds in accordance with the BLFI documentation. Four Bleoobii were designated as signatories to the Account, two of whom are AAOBA National Executives namely, Bleoobi Francis Bimpong-Boatha (Bleoo '99) and Bleoobi Rebecca Yeboah (Bleoo '96). AAOBA Opens Book of Condolence for Justice VCRAC Crabbe
The Accra Academy Old Boys' Association (AAOBA) opened a book of condolence at the K. G. Konuah Hall on 17th September 2018 in honour of the late Justice VCRAC Crabbe. This was done following a courtesy call to the Crabbe family by the AAOBA President and Secretary on 6th September 2018.
Bleoobii bid farewell to Justice VCRAC Crabbe
Bleoobii from various year groups joined hundreds of Ghanaians from across the country to pay their last respects to the late Justice Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe (Bleoo ’43) at a funeral service held at the Accra International Conference Centre on 4th October, 2018.
The Headmaster of Accra Academy, Rev. William Garr (Bleoo ’78), with support from Messrs Emmanuel Bruce-Attah (Bleoo ’73), Edward Doe Adjaho (Bleoo ’77), Jones Dotse (Bleoo ’73) and Abbey-Ashong (Bleoo ’75), read a eulogy on behalf of the School and Bleoobii.
Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony where the President, Vice President and two former Presidents of Ghana. The School choir which was also in attendance led Bleoobii in the singing of the School Anthem and School song.
National Executives of the Accra Academy Old Boys’ Association later presented a donation of Gh¢2000 to the Crabbe family on behalf of the Association.
Justice Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe was Ghana's first Electoral Commissioner and the only person in Ghana’s history to be appointed twice as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
His mortal remains were interred at the Osu Military Cemetery.h
